Becoming Louisiana

The No Man's Land - Becoming Louisiana Bicentennial Celebration will celebrate the culture, history, art, folklife, natural resources, cuisine, attractions, and events of the eight destinations who are historically tied to the geographic area of No Man's Land, through 2021.

This No Man’s Land, the disputed territory between the United States and Spain along Louisiana’s western border after the Louisiana Purchase became a haven for outlaws, but it also attracted rugged pioneers and diverse cultural groups, such as Native Americans, African Americans, Scot-Irish settlers, and remnants of Spanish colonies. Come celebrate 200 years Louisiana's disputed western border, with events and specials being held from Lake Charles to Shreveport.
